BE A KITTEN SEASON HERO
CAT SPAY/NEUTER
‘‘Kitten season is the time of year when shelters see a large increase in kittens, usually during the warmer months. As more cats give birth, shelters quickly fill with litters that need food, medical care, and loving homes. This is one of the busiest times of the year for us, and community support is crucial to help care for these tiny lives.”
“If you find kittens that appear to be orphaned, please do not remove them right away. In many cases, mom is nearby and will return. Watch from a distance for several hours if the kittens are warm, quiet, and appear healthy. If the kittens are injured, cold, crying nonstop, or if you are certain the mother has not returned, please contact us for guidance. Thank you for helping give these kittens the best chance to thrive.”
“If you find kittens that truly appear to be orphaned, we encourage community members to foster them in place until they are at least 8 weeks old. Young kittens do best in a home environment where they can stay warm, be bottle-fed if needed, and grow strong. We can provide supplies, resources, and guidance to help you be successful while fostering. Once the kittens reach 8 weeks of age, we are happy to take them into our shelter for vaccines, spay/neuter, and adoption. By fostering, you are giving these kittens the best possible start in life—and helping us save more lives.”
“Spaying and neutering is key to preventing pet overpopulation—especially during kitten season. One unaltered cat can lead to dozens of kittens, putting a strain on shelters. Fixing your pets helps reduce homeless kittens, saves lives, and keeps your pets healthier.”
